Wednesday - Week VIII

It was a gorgeous sunny day today with temperatures in the low 20's I would say. It was certainly a cold walk into town this morning but with the sun shining so bright who could complain.

I spent the whole morning and afternoon with my Spanish students and it was a very productive lesson. They had wanted to read one of my plays so I printed out a 10 minute play about a husband and wife and the dilemma they faced when the husband cheated on the wife with her best friend. It's a comedy and they had so much fun with it and although it took us almost 3 hours to get through to the end it was a productive teaching tool because it brought up so many questions and also gave them many new vocabulary words to learn. They're a very funny group and really seem to enjoy the learning process. We even had some of the other clients in the pub get involved and one very nice man came over to ask when he could come see the play we were rehearsing. How sweet is that!

Vanessa had to leave us a little early because her boyfriend Marc was getting off work for an hour to have lunch at home and she was going to go cook something for him. I asked what she was planning on making and she wasn't really sure so I said can't you just make him a sandwich and she looked at me horrified. She said he would not be happy with a sandwich and would be shocked if she were to give him one for lunch. Just like the Italians, the Spanish people take lunch seriously. It's a big meal and should have multiple courses.

I headed to the library for a little bit after my lesson and then met Jean Marie to go up to the gym. It amazes me how quickly the day can go buy especially when you are teaching for 4 and half hours in the middle of it.

I'm including a lovely picture of Shop Street decked out in it's holiday attire.
