Again, happiness was bursting out of me because I woke up to sunshine and clear skies. It was very, very cold yes, but one can not be to critical right now since the weather can change for the worse at any moment. Every bit of sunshine is appreciated.
I met with my Spanish student's this morning at 11:00am out our little pub. Today I took a picture of Bregene who has been so nice to us and who seems to work the morning shift everyday. I also took a picture of the little fireplace next to our table. As you can imagine it's our favorite spot to sit when we're in the pub.
We worked for 3 hours on verbs that use "to"after them or "at" after them as well as new vocabulary and phrasal verbs. It's amazing how quickly 3 hours can go by. I left them to meet Halil at the cafe around the corner and he and I worked for 3 hours on contractions like "he'll" and "they're" as well as past, present and future verbs. He's really picking things up now and he even corrected me twice. I had written something like "They're life is at risk..." and he said "life" isn't this suppose to be plural?" Of course he was correct I should have written "They're lives are at risk." It's a good sign that he is understanding things when he can see when I've made a mistake.
I left him and headed to the library and then stopped to get something to eat. I was famished by 5:00pm when I left Halil. I then walked around the city center and bumped into Marc, my student Vanessa's boyfriend who was working on Shop Street. I was talking to him as he continued to work holding a sign that points to a burger restaurant. He's very popular and several people stopped just to say a quick hello to him and one of those people was my former student from the school, Martin. I adore Martin who is from Paris and was so excited to see me. He's a very happy, social person and he promised to stop off next week to my lessons with the Spanish girls and help them by reading plays with them. He loves acting and took classes at his university for a few years.
I then walked a bit more going into some shops and then met up with my Spanish students, including Marc, for some Indian food near the Spanish Arch. We had a lovely time chatting and it kind of turned into a two hour English lesson but that was fine. It was just so nice to go for good Indian food and be able to share dishes. When I go by myself I get one dish and tonight I got to try six different dishes for only $10 euro since we split the food and the bill. They are a really great group of people and Patricia's sister Tamara is visiting her for the weekend so it was nice to have her there.
I left them around 10:00pm to go home while they headed off to a pub. I need to be in bed around 11:00pm or I'm just plain grumpy in the morning.
