Class - Day 10 (Week II)

Today pretty much covered the gamut of weather. Sun, rain, torrential downpour and then sunshine to end the day. There was even a beautiful rainbow right after the downpour came to a sudden end and the sun began to peak out.

I took a different route to school today just for a change of pace and it had a few lovely views along the way.

Morning and afternoon classes were pretty much all about functional language since we have our teacher practice on this subject next week. It was a long day but we managed to get through it and I think there will be some fabulous teacher presentations from my fellow students and I am looking forward to doing my own as well. I think we all know that no matter how well we do in this class it will still be tough to find the right job but for now we have each other for support and encouragement. My teammate Maura had an interview for a part-time job this week to teach special needs children in a Catholic school. My fingers are crossed for her to get the job although the priest, after saying what a great interview it was and that she's clearly qualified, sort of inferred that the position was already filled but they'll keep her in mind. She really has a lot of talent for teaching and I've learned so much from watching her in our teacher practices so I do hope that somehow she'll still get the job.

We spent the whole afternoon working on our lesson plans for the upcoming practice which took much longer than I'm sure our very patient teacher thought it would. We were there until almost 6:00pm trying to hammar out the details.

Jean Marie met me at the school tonight so we could go to Dublin for the weekend. She booked a wonderful hotel, The Maldron for three nights to celebrate my birthday. I stopped off at the leisure center when we got to the hotel for a quick dip in the pool and when I got back to the room the soccer came playing in the arena across the street was in its final inning. The crowd was roaring and within minutes all the people were filing out of the area signing and shouting happily. I have no idea who played and who won but there are a lot of happy people here tonight.
